Obituary

Loretta Broussard Johnson, 73, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on June 8, 2026, in Temple, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at North's Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full Military Honors. Loretta was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, and attended school in Temple, Oklahoma, graduating from Temple High School. She proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1979 and dedicated many years of honorable service to her country before retiring from the Air Force. During her military career, she served as a Material Facilities Specialist and was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. Throughout her distinguished military service, Loretta received numerous awards and decorations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award, among many others. On November 2, 2018, Loretta married the love of her life, Clayton Johnson, in Norman, Oklahoma. Together they shared a loving marriage built on friendship, faith, and devotion. Loretta had a passion for painting and was a gifted artist. She found joy in creating beautiful works of art and sharing her creativity with family and friends. Her artistic spirit, kind heart, and dedication to those she loved will be remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Clayton Johnson; her children, Toni Dailey(Ervin) of Moore, Oklahoma, Robert Anthony Smith of Abilene, Texas, and Quincy Broussard of Abilene, Texas; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family members and friends. Loretta was preceded in death by her daughter, Aretha Carrington; her parents, McKinley Grant and Bobbie Jean Council Grant; and her brother, Eugene Grant. Loretta's legacy of service, creativity, strength, and love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
