Margaret L. Jones "Loretta" was born December 6, 1925 in Aspermont, Texas to Wade Davis Sr. and Ozella Davis. She graduated high school in 1943. Loretta married Lew Jones Sr. in Woodward, Oklahoma January 15, 1944. Loretta and Lew had a dry cleaning business in Lubbock which they sold and moved to Anton in 1959 and continued in the dry cleaning business. Loretta kept the business going after her husbands death in 1987 until she closed the shop in late 1990s. She loved to play golf in her younger years and won the Women's Championship 2 years in a row at the Littlefield Country Club. Loretta was a church pianist, she read her bible daily and could be seen walking around Anton throughout the years. Loretta died April 17, 2021 at the age of 95. Graveside service will be held Wednesday April 21, 2021 at 11am at the Anton Cemetery with Minister Dave Carpenter officiating. Loretta was preceded in death by parents Wade Davis Sr. and Ozella Davis; husband Lew Jones Sr; Daughter Edith Aitken; 2 sisters Rachel Harrison and Martha Mae Davis; brother Wade Davis Jr. Left to cherish her memories are son Lew Jones Jr. and wife Janis of Abilene; grandson Eric Aitken of San Antonio, 2 granddaughters Stephanie Jones of Abilene and Stacie Jones of Dallas; 2 great-granddaughters Katelyn and Haley Aitken of San Antonio; 3 great-grandsons Joshua Brown of Abilene, Noah Brown of Abilene and Jonah Brown of Clovis, New Mexico, 2 nieces Bobbie Allen and husband Bruce of San Antonio and Bertha Sue Riggan and family of Brownwood; 1 nephew Jerry Wayne Wade and family of Ft. Worth/Dallas; 1 great-niece Rachel Salsman of Levelland; several great-nephews, several great-great nephews and great-great nieces.
