Lula Ella Baker, age 82, went home to her Lord on Monday, June 6th, 2022. Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, June 9th at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street, Abilene. Funeral services will be at 2pm Friday, June 10th at North's. Burial will follow at Cedar Gap Cemetery in Tuscola. Lula was born on November 5, 1939 in Elgin, Oklahoma to Alexander Caster and Mable Neal Castor. She came to the Abilene area in 1974 with her husband Alton. Lula was a LVN and worked for several health care providers in the area before retiring. She was a member of Oak Street Church of Christ. Lula loved to sing and dance and having a cup of coffee with friends and family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alton Baker; daughter, Kathy Ann Saintz-Bridge; brother, Gervous Caster and sisters Naomi Ruth Rodgers, Daphene Nell Haney, Betty Castor and Anibelle Davidson. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Teddie Watson and husband Roger of Merkel, Roberta Alverez of Merkel and Keli Perkins of Merkel; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
