Lyle M. (Skip) Slack, 81, of Abilene, passed away, Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Lyle Melvin Slack was born April 30, 1934 in Nunda, NY, to Lorron and Eunice Slack.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at First Central Presbyterian Church, 400 Orange Street, with Clifford Stewart officiating. A committal service with full military honors will be held in Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., under the direction of North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street.
A twenty year veteran of the Air Force, Skip retired in 1974 as a Staff Sergeant. He served in Labrador, Newfoundland, Vietnam, and Germany. He was also a life member of the American Legion and VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three older brothers.
He was survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Janice Slack, daughter, Vicki Lynn Slack, sons, Lyle M. Slack, II and wife Kayla, Scott C. Slack and wife, Kayla, grandchildren, Kyle, Karsyn, Madisyn and Dylan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The American Cancer Society.
