Obituary

Manuel Soto Jr., 74, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on June 12, 2026. Born on March 30, 1952, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Manuel was the son of Juanita Soto and Manuel Soto Sr. At an early age, he moved to Abilene, where he would spend the remainder of his life building a career, raising a family, and creating lasting memories with those he loved. Manuel dedicated many years of his life to the construction industry and worked as a skilled carpenter until his retirement. Known for his strong work ethic and craftsmanship, he took pride in every project he completed. In July 1972, Manuel married the love of his life, Carmelita Flores, in Abilene, Texas. Together they shared a loving marriage that spanned more than fifty years and built a family that was the center of Manuel's life. Manuel enjoyed working on vehicles, searching for antiques, and spending time with his family. He was happiest when he was fixing something with his hands, discovering unique treasures, or surrounded by the people he loved most. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita Soto and Manuel Soto Sr. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Carmelita Soto of Abilene; daughter, Veronica Soto of Abilene; sons, Jaime Soto and wife Fallon of San Angelo, Manuel Soto and wife Elizabeth of Abilene, and Richard Soto of Abilene; brothers, Leo Soto of Abilene, Roland Garcia of Abilene, John Garcia of Abilene, and Raymond Garcia of Abilene; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends. Manuel will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his hardworking spirit, his generosity, and the love he shared with everyone who knew him. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at North's Funeral Home in Abilene, Texas. The family appreciates the prayers, love, and support extended to them during this time of loss.
