Maria Aminta Cheslock 93 of Abilene was called to her eternal home on June 21 2013 in Abilene Texas. Visitation will be held at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street on June 24 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the Rosary from 6:30 to 7:00. Funeral services will be held at St. Vincent Palloti Catholic Church on June 25 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Terry Brenon officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Maria was born in Yepachic Chihuahua Mexico to Leonardo and Loreta Torres on April 14 1920 where she was raised in the Sierra Madre Mountains. She moved to Abilene in 1946 which since became her official home. She was a beautiful strong-willed woman who worked hard all her life. She loved gardening dancing spending time with family and activities at the senior citizen center. She was a member of St. Vincent Palloti Catholic Church and her unyielding faith was prevalent in everything she did. Maria is survived by her son Raul Torres and wife Emma; four grandchildren Elizabeth Adkins Veronica Torres Gabriel Torres and Michele Torres Hernandez; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and other loving extended family. Maria is preceded in death by her husband Robert Cheslock; two sons Armando and Hector Torres; seven siblings and her parents. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hendrick Medical Center for aiding in her care over the last few weeks.
