Maria Leticia Mares, a life-long resident of Abilene surrounded by her family and friends was carried peacefully to her resting place Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the age of 30. A Visitation will be held on Thursday November 30, 2023, from 6-8pm at First Methodist Church 202 Butternut St, Abilene, TX 79602. Under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 1, 2023, at 3pm at First Methodist Church with Pastor Wally Estrada officiating. Maria was born February 27, 1993, in Abilene, TX to Diana Gomez Mendoza and Pedro Jose Mares. Maria received her primary education from Abilene Independent schools. She was a devoted mother, daughter and sister. In her spare time, she loved to spend time with her children, family and friends. Maria was a dedicated fan and loved her Dallas Cowboys. She was a strong woman who loved fiercely, she was both soft yet powerful. She left an imprint on everybody's lives she touched. Maria was preceded in death by her uncle whom she loved very much Roberto Gomez. Left to cherish her memories are mother, Diana Mendoza and her bonus father Bernabi Mendoza, her father Pedro Jose Mares. Her husband Fernando Caballero & her children Jeremiah Caballero, Jaliyah Caballero and Jayden Caballero all from Abilene TX. Her siblings: Adreana Gomez (Abilene), Pamela Jaye Mares (Hondo), Breyanna Pitre (Abilene), Desiree Mendoza (Euless) and Justin & Shelby Mendoza (Arlington). So many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends to list. She had a heart of gold. You will always be in our hearts.
