Maria Carmen Portillo-Salazar, age 72 passed from this life peacefully on Thursday, February 8th, 2024. Visitation will be Thursday, February 15th, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm, with praying of the Rosary at 7pm, at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St., Abilene. A Funeral Mass will be at 11am on Friday at, St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, 2525 Westview Dr, Abilene. Interment will be private. Maria was born on October 25th, 1951, in Abilene to Jose Saenz Portillo and Carmen Alvarez Portillo and lived in Abilene her entire life. She was dedicated to her family and made their home a special place. Maria loved to cook, and during the holidays her kitchen was filled with cakes and tamales. She loved listening to music and was known for her witty sense of humor. Maria was devoted to her kids and grandkids and loved spending time outdoors with them. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Carmen Portillo; husband, Salvador Angiano Salazar; daughter, Guadalupe Salazar-Perez; brothers, Raymond Portillo, Jimmy Portillo, Joe Portillo and Guadalupe Portillo. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Hector Salazar, Yolanda Salazar-Arias and husband Ricardo, and Laura Salazar and her husband, Robert Arias; brother, Johnny Portillo; grandchildren, Arianna Rosas and husband Jakob, Eliza Alcantar and husband Marcello Benavides, Rolando Arias, Nayali Arias, Adan Arias, Mila Arias, Joel Perez and fiance Victoria Martinez, Joseph Perez, Bianca Perez, and Ismael Cruz; great grandchildren, Jaslena Rosas, Sofia Rosas, and Emiliano Rosas .
