Maria De La Luz Torres, 38, of Abilene, Texas passed away with her loved ones by her side Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Visitation will be held at North's Funeral home in Abilene, Texas from 6-8pm on Monday February 24th 2025. Funeral Services will be Tuesday February 25, 2025 held at FountainGate Fellowship in Abilene, Texas at 11am. Burial will follow at Iberis Cemetery. Maria was born September 19, 1986 in Abilene, Texas to Jose and Yolanda Torres. Maria received her education from Abilene High School. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking her famous green chicken pozole for her family, along with drawing, tattooing, and caring for her animals and chickens with her Dad. She was a plant lover. She loved being outdoors in the sunshine, listening to music, taking car rides, and spending a lot of time with her family. Maria had a heart made of gold. Anytime she walked into a room she filled the room with love and joy. Maria was preceded in death by her brother Pablo Cerda Torres and her uncles Grabiel Cerda, Manuel Cerda, and Frank Cerda and Aunt Stella Cerda. Left to cherish her memories are her parents Jose and Yolanda Torres, Her brother Jesse Torres, Sister in law Lisa Chabarria. Her nieces and nephews, Angelica and Alvaro De La Paz, Adriana Torres, Alexandra and Jose Garcia, Ramiro Torres, Angelina Torres, Beatriz Torres, and Roman Torres along with numerous great nieces and nephews. Honored to be pallbearers are Jose Torres, Ramiro Torres, Jose Garcia, Alvaro De La Paz, Larry Trotter, Boogie Chabarria, Joe Chabarria, and JuanCarlos Lopez.
