Martin Alonzo Salas, Jr. "Marty", 33, of Abilene, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Salvation Army Church, 1733 Poplar, Abilene, Texas with Major James Parrish and Major Edward Alonzo officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street. Marty was born in Abilene on March 13, 1981 to Martin Salas and Patsy Medina Salas. He graduated from Abilene High School and attended Richland Junior College. He was very active in basketball and other activities in Abilene, Texas. He was a soldier of the Salvation Army and worked at the Abilene State Supported Living Center. He was preceded in death by Francisco Cortinaz, Manuel Ortiz Salas and Alonzo Medina. Marty is survived by his father and mom, Martin and Lupe Salas, and his mother, Patsy Medina; one son, William Switzer; three brothers: Joe Salas, David Salas, and Michael Parrish and three sisters: Amy Salas, Angela Salas, and Desma Holguin.
