Obituary

Mary Ann Hale "Da", 81, of Abilene passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Wisteria Place. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, June 3, 2024 at 12:00pm at Overflow Worship Center 2958 Grape St. Abilene, Texas 79601 with Pastor David Gomez officiating. Burial is to follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00pm. Mary was born May 30, 1942 in Lakeland, FL to Leta DeFay Mercer and Aubrey Franklin Mercer. Mary loved painting and crocheting. She loved being a grandma aka "Da'. She enjoyed watching western shows, Big Bang, Golden Girls and The Young and The Restless. She also loved to eat at Whataburger, Cracker Barrel, and Cotton Patch. She had a passion for nature and spending time outside. Mary was preceded in death by her sisters; Laura Alsdorf, Margaret Dunn, Audrey Eileen Barnes, and Martha Mercer Moss. Her brother Clinton Mercer, parents Leta DeFay Mercer and Aubrey Franklin Mercer, and spouse Billy Gene Hale. Left to cherish her memories are: sister, Loretta Luster and husband Johnny Luster; son, Billy Hale II and wife April Hale, Grandchildren; Trey Hale and Abby Hale and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins.
