Mary Ellen Headstream 82 died in a local hospital Tuesday August 4 2009. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday August 7 2009 at North's Memorial Chapel with Glenn Ward and Jeff Reid officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday August 6 2009 at North's Funeral Home. Mrs. Headstream was born March 26 1927 in Snyder Texas to Wayne and Leola Williams. She attended the University of Texas where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She married J. W. Headstream on September 9 1946 in Snyder Texas. They ranched in Kent and Garza counties for about twenty years. They moved to Snyder where she worked as the secretary for the superintendant and the business manager of Snyder ISD for ten years. She owned Lad and Lassie's children's store for five years. Mary Ellen then worked for the Wadley Construction Company for ten years. They moved to Abilene in 1981 where she became a Life Master Bridge Player at the Mabel D. Lillus Bridge Center. She was a member of the Baptist church. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband J.W. Headstream two sons James and Chris Headstream her parents Wayne and Leola Williams and a brother Billy Wayne Williams. She is survived by daughters-in-law: Sue Headstream of Katy Texas and Donna Headstream of Abilene; grandsons Eric Headstream of Katy and and James Headstream of Abilene; sisters-in-law: Charlene and Marshall Ervin of Snyder Linda Headstream of Centennial Colorado and Patsy Williams of Abilene; several nieces and nephews and her wonderful friends at the Bridge Center and at Royal Estate Retirement Center.
