Maria Aurelia O'con Lemon-known lovingly as Mary-was born on February 11, 1952, in Abilene, Texas, to Joe O'con and Beatrice Garcia O'con. On September 15, 1966, she married the love of her life, Estanislado "Tanis" Lemon Sr., in Odessa, Texas.
Mary held jobs at Furr's Cafeteria and Luby's, but her most cherished role was being a devoted mother to her five children. She was the heart of her family-known for her warmth, generosity, and especially her unforgettable homemade tortillas.
Breakfasts at La Familia with her husband and friends were a favorite pastime, filled with laughter and love. To her, every grandchild and great-grandchild was "her baby," and she showered each one with affection.
Mary was many things to many people: a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, tia, cousin, and loyal friend. Her love was constant, her spirit resilient, and her joy contagious.
She passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with health issues. She was surrounded by love and is now, no doubt, dancing a cumbia in heaven with her beloved Tanis.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Estanislado "Tanis" Lemon Sr.; her parents, Beatrice and Joe O'con; her sisters, Josie and Dorothy; and her brother, Leslie.
She is survived by her brother Jessie and her children: Estanislado "Stan" Limon Jr., Reynaldo and Sandra Limon, James Limon and Maria Coronado, Olga and Shawna Limon, Laura and Sandi Lemon, all of Abilene, Texas
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Chester, Vanessa, Daniel, Michael, Valerie, Katrina, Gabriella, Abigale, and William, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, and aunts.
Mary's life was a testament to love, family, and strength. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
