Mason Taylor McGill, also known to her friends as Sunny McGill, age 27, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 in Abilene Texas. She is survived by her parents Logan David McGill II and Kelly & Raul Espinoza. Her Grammy, Sheryl McGill, step-brother Tony Espinoza and wife Crystal, step-sister Nicole Harrison and husband Brad, and many loving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, JoAnn & CW Head, grandmother Maria Villalobos, and grandfather Logan David McGill. Mason was a beautiful and intelligent soul with a free spirit. She was feisty and stubborn, yet caring and quick to forgive others. She could put on a tough front but was the most sensitive of all. Mason loved the rain yet lit up the room with her smile as bright as the sun. Hence the nickname "Sunny" bestowed upon her by friends. She loved her family, wanted to adopt every animal she saw, and play with every child she came across. Mason believed in second chances maybe because she was always hoping for another one herself. She loved like she lived her life; fearlessly. In her younger years she played sports and was a fierce competitor. As an adult she enjoyed modeling, jumping from airplanes, tattoos, motorcycles, and traveling the nation alone knowing a new friend was just around the next adventure. Mason was a hairstylist who enjoyed transforming her client's dreams into reality with bold and exotic colors and hair extensions. Mason loved music and had a vinyl record collection to rival any record store. Her tastes were eclectic; from Elvis to Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin to Jimi Hendrix, Queen to the Rolling Stones, David Bowie to Michael Jackson and Eminem. Her favorite movies were "Home Alone" and "Labyrinth". But what Mason really loved was helping and befriending others who were struggling. As many friends as she had, Mason often felt like an outcast, unforgiven for past mistakes, and forgotten as a lost cause who was always struggling. She empathized as she too so often struggled. We as her family and friends who knew her best would have given anything for her to experience a long life of love and happiness. We take comfort in knowing Mason knew the Lord and is surrounded by His light, free from the struggles that so often haunted her. Our grief over losing her is infinite. And now so is she.
