Obituary

Maureen Donovan Huffman 66, of Abilene passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023. Memorial Services will be held at The Episcopal Church of The Heavenly Rest. 602 Meander ST, Abilene TX 79602. March 11, 2023, at 2pm. Under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Maureen Patricia Donovan also known as "Mo" and "Lolli" was born the second youngest of 5 children in Newark, New Jersey to Joseph and Margaret Donovan on April 6, 1956. She attended Tom's River North High School and Ocean County College in New Jersey. She married John David Huffman on June 8, 1978, in the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens. They had two children together, Erin Lindsey and Shane Austin Huffman. Dave and Maureen lived in Ft. Worth, Wichita Falls, Granbury, and finally settled in Abilene, Texas in 1993. Maureen and Dave later divorced in 2017. Throughout her life, Maureen was known as down-to-Earth, always fun, and always thinking of others. She was the loudest voice at her grandkids games and the first to sign up for a party. Gift-giving and helping others brought her great joy. One of her favorite things to do was to travel for fun, for work, and for outreach. She was on the board of many non-profits such as the Food Bank of West Central Texas and Fire & Ice. She was especially proud of her Bar b que and gardening skills. She loved being outside in nature whether it be in the pool, at the lake or ocean, camping, or in her garden at home. Above all else, she wanted to spend time with her family and two dogs, Lilli and Daisy. Maureen Patricia Donovan Huffman was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Peggy Donovan, brother Jackie Donovan, nephews Shawn Dickey and Chad Crawford, and her beloved terrier companion, Tootsie. Maureen is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Timothy Palmer, Son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Sarah Huffman, Sisters Kathy Dickey and Ellen Werksman, Brother George Donovan, and grandchildren, Aubrey, Elijah and Quinn Palmer, and Hadley, Brooks, and Jace Huffman, as well as many other beloved family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest that a donation be made in Maureen's name to the Food Bank of Abilene. The family of Maureen wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the first responders of Abilene.
