Melvin H. Keele, a 45 year resident of Abilene who recently moved to Lubbock, died Thursday, February 5 at the age of 83. He was born January 5, 1932 in Blackfoot, Idaho. He joined the Air Force January 16, 1950, and remained for 22 years. Melvin married Alma Mathews in 1954 and was married until her death in 2013. He married Susan Teer Omahundro on January 5, 2014. He was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. He is survived by his wife Susan Keele of Lubbock, three daughters: Lova Keele-Diggs and her husband Bruce Diggs of Lubbock, Margaret Keele Gibson and her husband Frank Gibson of Henderson, Nevada, and Lu Keele Soules of Lubbock. One sister, Eva H. Wilson of California, Loel Gene Keele and wife Lois of LaPine, Oregon, sister-in-law Mary Lou Keele of West Monroe, Louisiana, nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Mathews Keele, two sons: baby Dale Keele and Hal Don Twyford, one daughter, Patricia Lee Keele, his parents, one brother and three sisters. Visitation will be at North's Funeral Home Tuesday February 10, 5-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 3325 N. 12 Street in Abilene, followed by Full Military Honors at Elmwood Cemetery.
