Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a patriarch, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Mr. Michael A. Collins affectionately known to all who knew him as "Mike". Mike was born the only child to Mr. T.A. and Mrs. Lilly Francis Collins in Winters, Texas on November 13, 1945. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Mrs. Glenda G. Collins, his two children; daughter; Jennifer and husband Wesley Edwards and son; Patrick Hill. Mike is remembered by his grandchildren, Brooklyn Hill, Jessica Edwards and Jillian Greer, and by his 5 great grandchildren along with a host of extended family members. Mike is proceeded in death by his beloved son, Kiley Jason Collins, his parents and along many family members that have gone before him. Mike graduated from Permian High School in 1963 in Odessa and later perused his career as an entrepreneur as a business owner for a Baskin' Robbins in Abilene Texas. He received his bachelors degree in sociology at the University of Texas at the Permian Basin in 1995. Mike was involved devoutly in the Lions Club, he was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Odessa and was an active leader in divorce recovery. Mike participated and made many contributions to the Special Olympics. He was passionate about the ASPCA, which he showed much love for. Mike's hobbies included photography, planting and flying airplanes. A personal name for his plane was "Tweety Bird 2". He loved his plants and his fish pond. Mike was known as a man that loved and cared for his family. He welcomed anyone that wasn't a part of his family, and by the time your visit with Mike was over, you left being family. Many will remember Mike by his Christ-like behavior and a generous attitude. He had a funny sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The Collins family would like to extend a huge thank you to all those who made Mike feel comfortable as possible with a peaceful environment during his care at home. Thank you to Dr. Thomas, nurses, physical therapist and medical professionals. A special Thank you to Tammy Garcia and Director, Brittney of Visiting Angels Living Assistance Services for their loving care for Mike.
