Minnie Faye "Nanny" George
Minnie Faye George 89 of Hawley went home to be with The Lord and beloved husband Max on December 8 2012. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Abilene City Cemetery with Dr. Herb Wood officiating directed by North's Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday in North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange Street.
Minnie was born on November 17 1923 in Chillicothe TX to Robert and Zelma (Wood) Jackson. The family moved to Plainview where she was raised with her 6 brothers and 4 sisters on the family farm. She met the love of her life Max George in Plainview and they were married November 1 1951 in Clovis NM. Max and Minnie moved the family from Plainview to Abilene in 1955 where they lived until his death in July 2004. She then made her home in Hawley with her daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Richard Bailey. There she watched her family grow. Minnie devoted her life to be the best Wife Mother Mother-in-Law Grandmother Grandmother-in-law Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother she could be.
She was preceded in death by her parents husband Max George brothers Earl Jackson Henry Jackson James Jackson and Gene Jackson; also sisters Irene Briggs Annie Smith and Juel Slaughter.
Mrs. George is survived by one daughter Shirley Bailey and husband Richard of Hawley; three sons Jimmie George and wife Pauline of Bardstown Ky. Jack George and wife Carolyn of Mineral Wells TX. John George of Buffalo Gap TX. One sister Joyce Harrison of Fairfield CA. two brothers Wayne Jackson and wife Jan of Plainview TX. and Wylie Jackson of Lubbock TX. eight grandchildren: Laurinda Hayes of Ballinger TX Max Bailey of New Braunfels TX. Helen Martin of Pensacola FL. Barbara Mcmillan of Bardstown KY. Jimmie George Jr. of North Shore AL. Connie Maxwell of Midland TX. Minnie Musick of Iredell TX. Ardie George of Fort Worth TX. Nineteen great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great-grandchildren a lot of nieces and nephews and friends who knew her not as Minnie but as Nanny.
The family would like to thank the special people of Hendrick Hospice Care. An extra special thank you to long time family friend Vinette Cunningham who stayed by Nanny's side caring for her every need and with the family through this very sad time.

We were blessed to have had her for so long and she will be missed even longer.
Our beloved Nanny will be missed by all that knew her.
