Monica Nicole Domingues Lackey, born November 7, 1957, in Stamford, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026.
Monica was a truly loving and kind soul who brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. Her radiant smile could light up any room, and she had a special gift for making others feel welcomed and cherished. She found great happiness in life's simple pleasures-especially dancing, playing bingo, and going to the casino with family and friends, where her laughter and vibrant spirit were always present.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Diaz Moreno; her grandmother, Margarita Diaz; her grandfather, Polo Diaz; and Jim Lackey, the love of her life. She is now reunited in heaven, greeted by Jim once again.
She is survived by her sisters, Jacqueline Reyes (Vincent Reyes) and Kimberly Calamaco; her brothers, Gearad Moreno and Randy Moreno; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A service to honor and celebrate Monica's life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street, Abilene, Texas. Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with the service beginning at 2:00 PM, officiated by Jabbar Hurd. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford, Texas.
Monica's legacy of kindness, joy, and love will never be forgotten.
