Montel Rene McKinley, 30, of Clyde, Texas, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and unwavering faith. Born on June 21, 1995, in Tucson, Arizona, Montel moved to Clyde at an early age, where he would grow up to be a standout athlete, a loving father, and a man of deep spiritual conviction. Montel received his education at Clyde ISD, where he quickly made a name for himself on the football field. His athleticism and passion for the game earned him All-American honors and attention from 12 Division I colleges. He went on to play semi-pro football and remained active in the sport throughout his life. After attending TSTC, Montel built a successful career working in the oil field, as a certified plumber, and in construction. But his greatest passion was being a father. He cherished every moment with his sons, hoping to teach them how to ride motorcycles and fish-two of his favorite pastimes. A true thrill-seeker, Montel loved motorcycles-especially crotch rockets and Harley Davidsons. He also had a deep love for fishing, a strong devotion to his faith, and was a proud member of the Brotherhood for Christians. He overcame tremendous odds after a life-altering motorcycle accident, defying doctors' predictions by walking and talking again-something he credited entirely to his faith in God. Montel was the life of the party, a natural jokester who lit up every room he entered. He made people laugh, brought out the best in others, and never let a moment pass without letting his loved ones know how much they meant to him. He is survived by his parents, Florentina and Roy Flores of Clyde; his children, Roy Alexander of Abilene (mother: Britiany Cowart) and Maddex Aden of Mandeville, LA (mother: Menorah Berayah Acremont); his siblings, Sabrina McKinley of Abilene, Angelique Flores of Clyde, Robert Flores of Merkel, Joel Flores of Abilene, Julian Flores of Austin, and Josslyn Flores of Austin; his grandmothers, Margarita Hollingsworth and Margie Smith, both of Arizona; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Noia Hollingsworth and paternal grandparents Ruth and Ruben Flores. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM with visiting hours starting at 10:00 AM at New Hope Church, with graveside services at 4:00 PM at Melvin Cemetery in Melvin, TX. Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 7, from 5:00-7:00 PM at North's Funeral Home. Montel lived for the Lord and died in His grace. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
