MSgt. Leonard Gill Jr. of Abilene, TX peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020. Leonard was born in Berlin, AL on July 8 1937 to Leonard Gill Sr. and Sallie Mae Campbell. As a young child Leonard's family moved to Detroit, MI where he completed his primary education in 1953. Upon his graduation Leonard joined the United States Air Force. Leonard was married to Doshiella Drew on November 14, 1959 in Omaha, NE and blessed with 2 children, Catherine and Anthony, from this union. Leonard honorably served as MSgt, and then Flight Engineer, in the USAF until his retirement on September 30, 1980. He had a great love for family. In his spare time Leonard loved working on cars, fishing, gardening and Oakland Raiders football. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents: Leonard Gill Sr. and Sallie Mae Campbell; his spouse: Doshiella Gill; and his brothers: Gus Gill M.D., Felix Gill, and Len Gill. Leonard leaves to cherish his memory his daughter: Catherine White of Abilene; son, Anthony L. Gill (Monica) of Ogden, UT; sister, Lucille Rousell of Detroit, MI; brother, Tepper Gill, PhD., (Laverne) of Reston, VA; sister-in law, Nelie Gill of Culver City, CA; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, many nephews, nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 28, 2020, at 6:00pm with Visitation to follow from 6:30- 8:00pm at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St, Abilene, TX 79601.
