Nannie LaFay Wilson of Abilene went to be with her heavenly Father on the evening of April 9 2011 at the place of her residence after a short battle with cancer.  She was with her children many grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the time of her death.   Services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at North's Memorial Chapel with Rufus Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow in Hawley Cemetery under the the direction of North's Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street .   Born in Abilene Texas on October 26 1938 to Albert Henry Walker and Opal Izetta Walker Nannie attended Elmdale High School where she participated in sports.  She was a member of the girls winning basketball team of that time period.  She loved dancing and regularly attended the Kirby Park dances in Abilene where she met her future husband Jimmy Rogers Wilson Sr     Nannie began her career at Amy Lynn Nursing and Retirement home where she worked for twenty years.  She then went to work at Sears Methodist Care Center for twenty-five years after which she retired.  Retirement did not settle well with Nannie and she began volunteering at the Abilene State School caring for children.  She also cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever asked.   Nannie and Jimmy lived in Abilene and raised eight children and actively enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her parents husband Jimmy Rogers Wilson Sr. ; a son Jerry Don Wilson; four brothers including Ray Bob Walker Burt Walker Albert Henry Walker Jr. William Baugh and a sister Hazel Coleman.   Nannie is survived by daughter Nita Hindman of Abilene daughter Rita McGuire and husband Tom of Abilene son Jimmy Rogers Wilson Jr. and wife Helen of Baird daughter Leta Henson of Abilene son Gary Wilson and wife Mandy of Tuscola son Charles Wilson of Abilene .  Nan is further survived by seventeen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren and a sister Dorothy Allen of Mexia Texas   The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Hospice of The Big Country for the loving care they provided.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that any memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society of Abilene.   Online condolences can be made at www.northsfuneralhome.com.
