MSGT. Nelson Clifford Wilson (Ret) of Abilene passed away Saturday June 3, 2023 at Hendrick Medical Center with his loving son and daughter-in-law by his side. Funeral Services will be held at King Solomon Baptist Church located at 1050 Minda St. Abilene, TX on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10:30am followed by the interment at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene located at 7457 W Lake Road Abilene, TX with military honors. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 5pm-7pm at North's Funeral Home located at 242 Orange St. Abilene, TX. Nelson was born December 13, 1937 in Caldwell, TX to Ozella Royann White and Nelson Charlie Wilson. Nelson received his primary education from Roby and Sweetwater Colored Schools. After High School he attended Prairie View A&M University. Nelson went on to enlist and serve faithfully for 20 years in the United States Air Force where he served 2 tours in Vietnam and as an Aircraft_ Maintenance Superintendent. After his retirement Nelson open his very own business named, Nelson's Organ Service that he kept open for over 35 years. In his spare time he loved to play his favorite Hammond B3 Organ at his home church of Pasadena Heights Community Church where he attended for over 40 years. He was involved in many local and international organizations such as ICAN (Interested Citizens of Abilene North) and Kiwanis Club. Nelson was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Essie Lee Wilson, son Nelson Curtis Wilson, son Michael Anthony Wilson, son Tony DeMarco Wilson, sister Marion Burgess and brother Norman Wilson. Left to cherish his memories are son: Wayne Fredrick Wilson of Homestead FL, Eric LaBlain Wilson of Columbus, OH, Shawn DeSandre Wilson and wife Stephanie Wilson of Abilene, TX and sister Shirley Nowlin of Memphis, TN, 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and countless number of friends.
