Neva Handley Stroud 86 of Abilene passed away Tuesday May 20 2008. A Graveside service will be in the Bluebonnet Cemetery in Colleyville Texas at 1:00 p.m. Friday with H. W. ""Dub"" McClish officiating under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening in North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange St. Mrs. Stroud was born April 28 1922 to Harv and Stella Handley in Tarrant County Texas. She graduated from Arlington Heights High School and was a graduate of Angelo State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree. She married James L. Stroud in 1943 in Tarrant County Texas. She taught Sunday school as well as teaching in the San Angelo public schools before retiring in 1992. She moved to Abilene in 1999. She was a member of the Oakland Drive Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her parents husband one sister and one brother. She is survived by one daughter Melissa Sturm of Abilene; one son Michael Stroud and wife Suzanne of Nashville Tennessee; one sister Laura Stevens of Aledo Texas three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
