Obituary

Norma G. Garza, age 83 of Abilene, Texas, was reunited with her Lord and Master whom she loved very much on July 5th at 10:35 pm. Norma was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar E. Guajardo and Elizabeth Hilton, sisters, Gloria G. Montes and Isis Weiland. Norma is survived by her loving husband, David Garza Sr., of 62 years, sons David Jr. (Lydia) of Cleburne, Tx., Benjamin of Eula, Tx., Jay (Sara) of Tuscola, Tx., and daughter Norma Lynn of Abilene, Tx., 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Norma is also survived by her only brother Oscar Guajardo Jr. of Ennis, Tx., and sister Elsie G. Chapa of San Benito, Tx. Norma was a faithful follower of Christ and a dedicated pastor's wife. She served in Sunday School, VBS as well as church pianist. She was loved and cherished by the church congregations in which her husband ministered. Norma's love for Jesus Christ was evident as she served Him. She loved to sing, "Oh, How I love Jesus because He first loved me." The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Joshua Thomas and staff, Gentiva Hospice and its wonderful staff, and Meals on Wheels. In lieu of flowers, make donations to Meals on Wheels. Services will be held at Shining Star Baptist Church at 301 Palm at 11am on July 12, 2023.
