Ocie Batsel McQueen passed from this life October 23 2012 in the Veterans Hospital in Big Springs Texas after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held on October 26 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery 7457 West Lake Road. Funeral arrangements are being handled by North's  Funeral Home. Ocie's nephew Don Spence will be leading the graveside service. After graduation from Baird High School Ocie worked on the Dyer Ranch where he grew up. He served in the United States Army. Afterwards he worked as a postal employee in Abilene for many years. Many will remember him for his love of dancing. Ocie was born September 28 1934 in Baird Texas to Horace and Evelyn McQueen. Ocie was preceded in death by his parents baby sister Zelda Gay McQueen and brother-in-law OB Spence. Ocie is survived by two sisters Janice Spence of Abilene Texas Marquata and husband J.C. Driggers of Trent Texas and three nephews and four nieces. For the last three years he has attended Rose Park for Senior Citizens as a monthly volunteer. He will be greatly missed.
