Pansy Marie (Mills) Webb was welcomed into the arms of her Heavenly Father and her earthly father and mother on Monday, February 24, 2025, in Abilene, Texas. Pansy was born in Anna, Texas, January 24, 1927, the youngest of 8 children of Henry Marlin Mills and Ollie Birtie (Flowers) Mills. Pansy attended schools in Aubrey, Texas, and graduated from Aubrey High School where she was the class treasurer and senior class queen. In 1944, during World War II, at the age of 17, she enlisted in the Cadet Nurse Corps and received training as a Registered Nurse at Harris Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Worth, Texas. She married Troy Webb in Weatherford, Texas, on March 26, 1946. She and Troy moved to Crosbyton, Texas, where he opened an upholstery shop, and she worked as a registered nurse, traveling back and forth to Lubbock. She also worked as a school nurse in Crosbyton and Ralls, Texas, and in the summer as the camp nurse at the Baptist Encampment at Floydada, Texas. They had 3 children: Pansette, Troylene and Bruce. They were members of First Baptist Church of Crosbyton, and Pansy was the president of the Women's Missionary Union there. In 1962, they moved to Abilene, Texas where she worked for West Texas Medical Center, Cox Hospital, and Hendrick Memorial Hospital and as a private-duty nurse. She was a floor charge nurse at Hendrick and helped open the cardiac care unit in the 1970s. She also worked as the nurse for Hardin-Simmons University. She served as the camp nurse for Lueders Baptist Encampment. Education was very important to her, and she worked many long hours to ensure that all 3 of her children graduated from college. She took courses at Hardin-Simmons University toward a BS degree as time allowed. Even after retiring, she kept up with nursing continuing education classes well into her 80's. She also taught nurses' aides and was very patient and persistent in furthering their education. She was a devoted student of the Bible, filling many notebooks with Bible verses and thoughts. Over the years, she read and reread the Bible many times, taking innumerable notes. She and her family were members of First Baptist Church, where she served on various committees. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Union and very interested in supporting missionaries. She also enjoyed meeting members through The Supper Club small group program. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the Texas Nursing Association, and the American Nursing Association. She enjoyed working in the yard, fishing, swimming, traveling with Troy in their motor home, and finding treasures at garage sales. But she absolutely loved spending time with her grandchildren and taught them many things. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Ollie Mills and her siblings: Odis Mills, Donna Beatrice Johnson, Valma Mills, Jonnie Mills, Woodrow Mills, Lorraine Wilson, and Ruth Smart. Her beloved husband Willie Troy Webb passed away in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Ben Sitz. She is survived by her 3 children: Pansette Sitz, Troylene (John) Stewart, and Bruce (Elaine) Webb. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Derek (Kelsey) Webb and daughter Phoebe, Tasha (Michael) Seng, Brittany (Tim) Elliott and daughters Audrianna and Elise, and Calleen (Andrew) Deibert and sons Courtland and Cyhler. Visitation will be Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street, Abilene, Texas. Services will be held at First Baptist Church Chapel, N. 2nd and Orange Streets, Abilene, Texas, on Friday, February 28, 2025, at two o'clock under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Burial will be at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 US Highway 277 South in Abilene, Texas. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Abilene, Texas or your favorite charity.
