Parish was born April 3, 1934 in Aspermont TX to Annie Lee Thomas and Thurman Thomas. He received his primary education at Woodson All Black School and Abilene High School of Abilene. My uncle Charles Sims told me that my father was a legend of singing and dancing, at church and all events in town. Pastor Webbs loved to hear him sing his solo, The lords prayer when he came to New Fellowship Baptist. He worked for the Abilene Country Club and Various jobs throughout the town. He loved to watch the news and his stories, Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful. Read his bible joke around and pull his knife out on you. If you knew Parish "Culu" you knew he was a character.
Parish was preceded in death by his parents, 12 siblings, son Ronald Thomas and his 5 baby mommas.
Left to cherish his memories are daughter Pamela Swayzer Gardner of Fort Worth, Michael Montgomery of San Antonio TX, Billy Charles Powell (Margaret) of Arlington, TX, Natasha Hubbard Petitt (Walter) of Austin, TX Patricia Swayzer of Plano TX, and David Lee Nichols of Abilene, TX.
