Pat H. Minatra went to be with his Lord on October 13 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 6pm to 7:30pm at North's Chapel on October 16 2010. Service will be at 2pm on October 17th at Logston Chapel on the Hardin Simmons University campus and officiated by Kelly Pigott. Burial will follow in Hamby Cemetery under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Pat was born in GieBen Germany on November 11 1954. Pat came to the United States when he was 4 years old. He lived for a while in Amarillo Texas until his father retired from the Air Force when they relocated to Coleman Texas. Pat graduated from Coleman High in 1973. Pat was a long time member of Hamby Baptist church ordained as a Deacon September 1 1996 and licensed as a minster on February 13 2002. Pat loved his Lord and Savior and wife with all his heart. He knew he was going to be with his Father God in heaven and promised to wait for his wife on the other side of Jordan. Pat was inspired and comforted by his un-wavering faith in the Lord by his Pastor Uncle Paul Smith and his wife Anita. He knew that countless numbers of his Christian brothers and sisters were lifting him up in prayer during his struggle with cancer. Pat received great comfort knowing this. Pat traveled through this journey supported by his loving family and friends at Hardin Simmons University Hendricks Regional Laboratories and Meek Blood Bank. Their continued prayers are of great comfort. Pat was a great example and inspiration to all of us by being a witness to his faith in God. His faith never wavered and he knew God was using this trial for his Glory. Pat obtained a Bachelors Degree in Business from Wayland Baptist University while working full time at Texas Instruments. He did this while taking care of his family. Pat enjoyed studying and discussing the Bible visiting with friends and family southern gospel music genealogy along with many others. He was self-taught computer and enjoyed his accomplishments in this field. He was always willing to share his expertise with others. He enjoyed the challenges that the computer field presented with all the new technologies and processes. He and Rhonda spent countless hours researching his family tree tracing his family to Digon France. Pat privately published one of the Minatra family books in the mid 80's. Pat was a court reporter in Birmingham Alabama in the early 70's and then returned to his home town of Coleman around 1975. He then moved to Abilene to work for Timex Corporation he then worked for Texas Instruments as a material manager and manufacturing engineer. Pat worked for Hendricks where he worked in the health information technology department Hendricks Hospice Care as a medical office system biller. Pat was then blessed to work for Hardin Simmons University information technology department for the last 11 years. He enjoyed his position and his work family at Hardin Simmons where he knew God had lead him. Pat is survived by his wife of 34 years Rhonda Minatra of Abilene; brother-in-law W.W. "Dub" Hawkins and wife Jody of Merkel; nieces April Hawkins of Abilene Vera Hawkins and her son Barrett of Justice; cousins Ann Smith Cleo Cude Dusty Childress Jenifer Quick and Maci Childress of Abilene. He was preceded in death by Mr. and Mrs. Jack H. Minatra and several aunts uncles and extended family. Pallbearers are Brian Cargile Travis Seekins Dub Hawkins Dusty Childress Chris Kelly and Brooks Dean. Pat loved his Lord and wife with all his heart Rhonda was the love of his life best friend and confidant and last but not least a blessed gift from God and wonderful Christian husband. To my husband; "I love you more every day and as time passes I realize how blessed I am to have you as my husband. I can see how much you love me when you look at me and I can feel that love with your embrace. The journey of life and the passing of time made me appreciate the treasure in your love.
