Peggy Joan Kingston, 78, passed away March 3, 2025 in Abilene, Texas from complications due to Alzheimer's dementia. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday March 8, 2025 at St. James United Methodist Church 3100 Barrow St. Abilene, TX 79605 at 11AM. She was born on April 12, 1946 in Brownfield, Texas to Raymond and Geneva Carruth. She graduated from Lamesa High School in 1964 and married Jerold Kingston in 1969. In 1974, they had their son, Jerold Ray Kingston, Jr. (Jerry). Peggy and Jerry moved to Lamesa, Texas in 1981. Peggy worked various bookkeeping and administration jobs in Lamesa for different local businesses, including at Lamesa ISD central office, and Wilton, Newberry, Heidel, Leonard and Womak CPA before going to work for Caprock Federal Credit Union where she worked for 20 years until she retired in 2010. She moved to Anson in 2010 and in 2015, she moved to Abilene where she lived until her death. She was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Lamesa, Texas where she played the organ, sang in the choir, and participated in just about every church activity there was. She was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Anson. She was always very active in the churches she attended. She helped with the children and youth, was involved in choir, and played piano and organ when needed. One of her favorite pastimes was watching old western shows and movies and she loved to sew. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Misti Kingston of Abilene, Texas, sister, Wilda Pruitt of Lubbock, Texas and grandchildren, Jared and Jennifer Kingston.
