Phillip Charles Hambrick, 72, of Seguin formerly of Abilene passed away peacefully in San Antonio, Texas on August 2, 2017. Services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday, August 7, 2017 in North's Memorial Chapel with Joe Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. ~ 4:00 P.M. Sunday, August 6, 2017 in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St. Phil was born November 16, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri to Burl and Pat Hambrick. He grew up in Abilene, Texas where he graduated from Abilene High School in 1965. He received his degree in Psychology in 1969 from University of North Texas where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He joined the Navy during the Vietnam War serving from 1970 ~ 1973 and continued to serve his country in the Naval Reserves for twenty years. He began his police career August 3, 1973 and retired in 2003. Phil served as a police officer in Cockerill Hill and Cedar Hill, Texas. He became detective and later Chief of Police at Cedar Hill and Chief of Police at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. Phil made many friends while attending the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia graduating in the 136th class in 1984. After retiring from his police career he became a Private Investigator and worked actively until recent years. Phil will be remembered by his many friends and family for his sense of humor and ability to never meet a stranger. Also remembered for his undeniable strong will, determination and inquisitive mind that served him well throughout his police career. He was preceded in death by his parents.
