Obituary

Phyllis Hurley Damato was born in Xenia, Ohio to Delbert and Wilma Hurley on December 26, 1934. She graduated from Xenia High School in 1952. She attended Kentucky Christian University and Ozark Bible College. She married Acie Palmer while in college. Together they raised six children. She was actively involved in the music ministry at the First Church of Christ in Xenia for over forty years. She was an accomplished musician and played the piano and the organ. She gave piano lessons for many years. She also worked as a technician at Kettering Hospital until retirement. She then moved to Texas and married Orlando D'amato. After his passing, she moved into senior living in Abilene, Texas. Here she led Bible studies and was resident librarian. Phyllis Hurley D'amato was preceded in death by Parents Delbert and Wilma Hurley, spouses Acie Palmer, and Orlando D'amato, and son Philip Palmer. Phyllis Hurley D'amato is survived by children Acie and Stephanie Palmer of Montgomery, Texas, Diane and Abel Alvarez of Abilene, TX, Adam and Jamie Palmer of Ft. Worth, TX, Reggie and Marianne Quiett of Vernon, TX, and Daniel Palmer of San Jose, California. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren with two on the way. The family will be privately remembering Phyllis and will also gather in Ohio in the near future to celebrate her life! In lieu of flowers please make a donation to The American Cancer Society.
