Rachel Ramona Brown, affectionately known as "Penny," was born on
October 31, 1962, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and completed her earthly
journey on July 3, 2026, in Abilene, Texas, at the age of 63.
Rachel spent most of her childhood and teenage years in Wilkinsburg,
Pennsylvania, where she attended Wilkinsburg High School and
graduated in 1980. She went on to pursue a career in the United States
Armed Forces. Throughout her life, Rachel accomplished many wonderful
things through marriage, motherhood, and a variety of jobs and career
positions.
The second oldest of five siblings, Rachel carried herself with a bit of
bossiness that only an older sister could get away with. She was an
exceptional artist and poet who loved the outdoors, gardening, and
fishing. Her relationship with God was deeply personal, and she spent her
life seeking His truth - and we believe that she found it. Penny was also
an excellent dancer who grew up loving Soul Train, and one of her
favorite artists was Natalie Cole.
Penny's love and compassion for her neighbors always showed up in the
form of a full dinner plate. She would give anyone anything she had, and
she will be forever remembered - and truly missed - by all who knew
her.
Rest easy, Penny.
