Rachel D. Martinez, age 88, of Tuscola, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025. A Rosary will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 09:30 AM, followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church. Inurnment to follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM. Rachel DeAnda Martinez was born on October 23, 1936, in Valera, Coleman County, Texas, to Jacinto Ortega DeAnda and Blandina Gonzalez Torres. She married the love of her life, Freddie Rosalez Martinez, on December 26, 1956, in Brownwood, Texas. Together they built a loving home rooted in faith, family, and community. A devout Catholic, Rachel was a dedicated member of the Legion of Mary, an apostolic organization within the Catholic Church. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, shaping her values and inspiring her acts of kindness and service. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Jacinto Ortega DeAnda and Blandina Gonzalez Torres; her siblings Mary DeAnda, Joe DeAnda, Alene DeAnda, Dorothy DeAnda, Agnes DeAnda, and Jacinto DeAnda; and her beloved grandson, Branden Carlson. She is survived by her devoted husband, Freddie Rosalez Martinez; her children, Debbie Martinez and Freddie Martinez; and her grandson, Dylan Carlson. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Max DeAnda and Family, Arthur DeAnda and Family, Rebecca DeAnda Vargas and Family, Carol DeAnda Anderson and Family, Linda DeAnda Sanchez and Family Rachel leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience, and will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews across North Carolina, California, and Texas.
