Rachel Sweeney Young, formerly of Abilene, passed away peacefully November 12, 2013, in Garland, Texas. Rachel was predeceased by her husband James A. Young, her eight siblings, and son-in-law Mike Barksdale. She was a resident of Abilene for 54 years and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Rachel was born to Frank and Myrtle Mae Sweeney August 3, 1919 in Achille, Oklahoma. She is survived by her daughters Jo Ann Williams (Ray) and Janet Barksdale; grandchildren Kimberly Gunn (Kevin), Chad Barksdale (Melissa), Alisha Harris (Brandon); great grandchildren Kailee and Kelsey Gunn, Ayden, Bryce, and Kinleigh Harris and Madden Barksdale; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2013, at Elmwood Memorial Cemetery under the direction of North's Funeral Home.
