Raul "Roy" Galvan Mesa, 67, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on April 5, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 28, 1957, in Abilene to Pablo Mesa Sr. and Ninfa Galvan.
Raul attended school in Abilene and was passionate about baseball, playing for Northern Little League. He worked in construction and concrete, and later served as a civilian airplane mechanic at Dyess Air Force Base. Raul retired after over 20 years at Lockheed Martin, where he dedicated much of his career.
Raul was known for his love of music, especially enjoying live performances at Billy Bob's. He cherished time spent with his family and friends. He was the last living member of his immediate family and will be remembered for his warm heart and easygoing spirit.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at St. Vincent Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the Abilene City Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at North's Funeral Home, with a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM.
Raul is survived by his nieces; Kimberly Lopez, Lindsey Tafoya (Eric), Davina Flores, and Jaclyn Alcantar, who he raised as his own; nephews; Ruben Ott, Gary Woods, Michael Baca, and Brian Ott, his aunt Rosa Garcia, aunt Mary Ann Stokes, and uncle Ted Garcia; as well as numerous great nephews, great nieces, and extended family and friends.
Raul was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lupe Mesa and Norma Mesa, and brothers Oscar Mesa and Paul Mesa, and niece; Jennifer Flores.
