Ray Smith, 58, of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Merkel, Texas, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in North's Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in North's Memorial Chapel with Paul Vasquez officiating. Burial to follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, under the direction of North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St. Ray Smith was born September 28, 1956, to Raymond T. Smith and Ida (Adair-Smith) Hokanson in Merkel, Texas. He attended Franklin Junior High School and Abilene High School, and worked for Ray's Auto Sales, Mid-America Apartment Communities, and served in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his stepfather, Leon Hokanson. Two brothers, Ronnie Smith and wife Ada of Clyde, Texas and John Kiefer of Lubbock, Texas.
