Obituary

Deacon Raymond Brooks of Abilene passed away Monday, January 24, 2022 In Abilene, TX. Funeral Services will be held Saturday February 5, 2022 at12pm at King Solomon Baptist Church located at 1050 Minda Lane, with burial to follow at Elliot-Hamil Cemetery. Visitation will be held in North's Funeral Home Chapel Friday February 4, 2022 from 5-7pm.

Raymond was born February 1, 1927 in Hearne, TX to Beatrice and Jessie Brooks. Raymond worked for Ringo Trucking company in Tye, TX for many years. For a short time he lived in Cameron, TX and worked as a chauffeur for the Nuns. Mr. Brooks was married to his wife of 55 years Aline Brooks. He lived life to the fullest, and loved everyone he encountered. Raymond loved going to the casinos in his spare time. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy, and often said " Sho Nuff". Deacon Brooks was a long time faithful member of Valley View Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastorship of Rev. Andrew Penns.

Raymond was preceded in death by both parents Beatrice and Jessie Brooks, first wife Evelyn Foster Brooks (mother of his children), daughters; Shirley McClain and Karen Phillips, brothers; Ike Brooks Sr., Jessie Brooks, Luther Brooks, and Mason Brooks. Sisters; Clara Mae Thomas, and Bernice Paul, son-in-laws; Walter McClain, and Billy Bell, grandchildren; Anthony Washington, Marcus Brooks, and Richard Holmes, great grandchildren; De'Asjah Sims, and De Auntae Sims

Left to cherish his memories are: wife of 55 years Aline Brooks; children; Dianne Bell Chilton, TX, Patricia Harrison (Edgar) Houston, TX, Louise Brooks- Phillips (Arthur) San Angelo, TX, Jim Brooks (Wanda) Abilene, TX, Alice McKee (Douglas) Chilton, TX, Rose Anderson Cameron, TX, Bernard Wayne Brooks Abilene, TX, Alina Crain (Bill) Abilene, TX, Yolanda Paul San Angelo, TX, Pam Brooks Lott, TX. sister; Annie Bell Samuels San Angelo, TX, 37 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Special thank you to Collette and Sonny Goode. Whom he worked for, for many years. He thought the world of them. Repass will be held for family and friends following the service at Valley View Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall located at 3564 Clinton St. Abilene TX Services entrusted to Norths Funeral Home.
