Raymond Arthur "Art" Waller, 85, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, in Abilene.
Art was born on April 2, 1941, in Chicago to Raymond H. Waller and Gladys Becker Waller. At an early age, he moved with his family to La Feria, where he received his education through the La Feria Public Schools.
Following high school, Raymond proudly served his country in the United States Navy for six years. During his military service, he worked in boiler rooms refueling battleships during the Vietnam era. After completing his service, he returned to La Feria, where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Sue Peters. The couple married in 1965 in Harlingen and shared many devoted years together.
In his younger years, Art enjoyed model trains, hunting, fishing, and flying remote-control airplanes. He was known for his quiet strength, dedication to his family, and love of the outdoors and hobbies that brought him joy.
Art is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Sue Waller of Abilene; his son, Artie Waller and wife Kelley of Abilene; his daughter, Nancy Waller of Abilene; his grandchildren, Trey Waller and Katelyn Waller; and his sister, Audrey Eoff of Weslaco.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond H. Waller and Gladys Becker Waller, and by his brother, Frank Waller.
A memorial service will be held Thursday May 21, 2026 at 1pm at Northside Baptist Church. A private interment will be held at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
