REBECCA NANCE CELAYA JANUARY 8, 1955 - JANUARY 10, 2023 Becky was born in Charlotte, North Carolina to Charles and Betty Nance. She grew up in Fayetteville, NC and graduated from 71st High School in 1973. In 1985, she moved to San Antonio, Texas and worked as a full charge bookkeeper. In 1999, we were set up by a mutual friend and when I called her for a date, we ended up talking for 2 hours. We married in 2003. In 2011, we sold everything, bought a RV and struck out to explore America. With her energy and enthusiasm, every day was a fun adventure. She easily made friends everywhere we landed. She definitely was the personality of this duo. Bless her heart, whenever I would back into a parking spot, she would direct me looking like she was swatting bees. In 2017, she was ready to leave the road and we decided to land in Abilene, Texas. We found a repo house and began remodeling. Our motto was "we may not be fast but we sure are slow". Though she was a Lady, she was equally a tomboy. She was a hoss. Up on a ladder scraping popcorn off ceilings, hand texturing walls and ceilings, painting, helping put down wood floors and "supervising" me laying tile. She hung over the roof, 17 feet up to paint a peak we couldn't reach. She "volunteered" because the "other participant" wasn't about to do it. In 2018, her cancer returned as stage 4. She was given 18-24 months. 5 years later she was still the highlight of my day. "The finest years I ever knew, were all the years I had with you" Rebecca Celaya is preceded in death by Husband; Richard Celaya, Abilene, Texas. Rebecca Celaya is survived by; Siblings; Robert Nance (Janis), Connie McCloskey (Ron) and Michael Nance, Fayetteville, NC, David Nance (Ann) Edonton, NC, Jerry Morgan Elizabeth, NC.
