Maryneal, Texas -- Regina Jo McVey, best known as Gammy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 15, 2022 at 58 years of age.

She leaves her husband of 38 years, Joe Brad McVey; her daughter, Melissa Gillespie and son-in-law Kevin; her son, Justin and daughter-in-law Ashley; 6 beloved grandchildren: Paige, Kelton, Taygen & Levi McVey and Parker & Maxx Gillespie; sisters, Rexann Pence and Robin Pebsworth; and a multitude of extended family members and friends; her nursery and all of her wonderful customers throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rex and Cathy George, father-in-law, Buddie McVey, and niece, Katie Kalmer.

Born on November 12, 1963 in Colorado City, Texas, Regina graduated from Highland High School and attended Abilene Christian University. In 1984, she married Joe Brad and together they began their family in Maryneal. They welcomed Melissa in 1984 and Justin in 1987. As a longtime member of Roscoe Church of Christ, Regina enjoyed sharing her faith by being a Sunday School teacher.

Regina always had a love for nature. She dreamed of owning a native nursery and she began making that dream come to life in 2010. Regina began her nursery in her backyard underneath the mesquite trees in Maryneal. In 2013, she opened McVey Native Nursery in Roscoe. For the last 12 years she worked hard to make sure her nursery offered something for each person that walked through it. It was never a job to her, but a daily blessing. This last year the nursery was able to make "Gammy's Garden" a reality. She envisioned this as a gathering place for anyone to come and enjoy either over lunch with a friend or just as a quiet place to escape, listen to the waterfall, watch the birds, and relax. She truly loved her place of heaven on earth that she created.

Her life revolved around her family. She was the world's best Gammy, and was always planning her next Gammy and the Gang adventure. She would load up all six little buddies on her own and take them on a trip to cherish for a lifetime. They took numerous trips to Jellystone, Ruidoso, Epic Waterpark, and her favorite of all, Disney. She could also be found cheering them on at any event they were involved in.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Roscoe Church of Christ (Bois D Arc & 3rd St, Roscoe, TX 79545) on September 24, 2022 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be made to Hendrick Hospice or donations made in her honor to the Blackwell or Highland ISD Libraries.
