Obituary

Remigio Sliva of Abilene passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday December 14, 2021 at North's Funeral Home Chapel at 1pm. Visitation will be held Monday December 13 from 6-8pm at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange St. Abilene , TX. Remigio was born February 3, 1938 Devine Texas to Lucas Silva and Paula Rodriguez Silva. As a small boy his parents traveled to west Texas looking for a better live. They settled in Munday Texas. As he grew up he worked in the fields doing all kinds of work even driving a tractor. That's where he met the love of his life and then they got married July 6, 1959. A year later they moved to Chicago Illinois where they had two children. Remigio Jr and Sylvia. They lived in Chicago for 12 years then decided to go back Abilene Texas. He started working with his brother Reymundo Rey Silva. Remigio didn't have very much education he only went to the third grade yet he became a professional mechanic, professional paint and body man and he owned his own body shop "Silva's body shop" and also owned and operated "Fiesta ballroom". He became a professional musician playing the bass, bass guitar, bajo sexto and the accordion. Every Sunday he played in Saint Vincent church choir. After he retired he watch texas ranger baseball and cowboy movies with his wife. He also repaired accordions. His joy in life was watching his grandkids play sports. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brothers Raul, Ramon, Rosendo, Rodrigo, and his son Remigio Silva Jr. He is survived by his wife Gladys Silva and daughter Sylvia Martinez and her husband Richard Martinez, grandsons Remigio Silva III and wife Stephanie, Andrew Silva, Adam Cantu and wife Macy, and this only granddaughter Amanda Cantu Gutierrez and husband Kevin, brothers Reymundo Silva and wife Alicia, Ramiro and wife Susana, sisters Rose Anna Fernandez, and Rosa Linda Silva from Chicago Also he is survived by 6 great grand children.
