Obituary

Rena Kaye Bivens of Abilene, Texas passed away on December 23, 2022. Born on September 8, 1950 to John Edward Beasley and Gladys Lorene Beasley, she was the loving eldest sibling to sisters Donna Beasley Salge, Vicki Beasley Lewis, Janna Beasley Spigner and brother John Dale Beasley. She attended Wylie High School, playing on the school's girls' basketball team with her lifelong friends Carol Clark and Nita Laney. Upon graduation she traveled the country working as a seamstress and bookkeeper, eventually settling in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. There she raised her two daughters, Raven Pray Bishop and Megan Pray, while owning and operating a historic tavern—The Raven's Nest—with her then-husband, Albert Pray. Rena was a talented artist and had a keen eye for antiques, even owning a shop selling her vintage finds and local artisans work. Later in life, Rena returned to be with her family in Abilene. Though the distance and the pandemic prevented her from visiting her grandson Robert "Wren" Bishop in person, she made it her mission to embrace and master technology that would bring them very close, like video chats and online games of Minecraft. Rena joins her father, mother, sister Donna, brother John Dale, sister-in-law Joy Pray, and mother-in-law Jeanne Pfeiffer in heaven. She leaves behind her loving daughters Raven and Megan, their partners Bob Bishop and Michael Kedl, grandson Wren, sisters Vicki and Janna, brothers-in-law Robert Salge and Frank Pray, sister-in-law Melissa Beasley and best friends Carol and Nita. Rena was a friend to all and will be missed by many, many people.
