Richard Warren Davis was born January 25, 1943, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2024. Richard was the son of Edith Phemister Davis and Warren Davis. Richard was born in Wichita Falls, Texas. Richard and his parents lived in Delaware when he was young, but his heart remained in Texas. He moved back to Texas where he lived in Haskell, Texas for a majority of his life. In the late 1990's, Richard moved to the Windsor Apartments in Abilene Texas where he met Nelda Brewster. Their love story begins there. Richard married Nelda on March 1, 2001, in the Windsor Ball Room, Abilene, Texas. They were married for 23 years before Nelda passed in December of 2023. They were together all the time and loved one another dearly. God Bless them both. Richard loved to tell stories about the people he has met over his lifetime. He was an avid watcher of game shows and loved old westerns. Richard liked to play games, and despite his struggle in life, provided a positive outlook and always wanted to help others before himself. Richards favorite thing to do was spending time with his family including his stepsons, their wives, children, and great-grandchildren. Richard was a devout Christian and enjoyed listening to gospel hymns. Richard was preceded in death by his mother and father, Edith and Warren Davis, and his wife, Nelda Davis. Richard was survived by his stepson Thomas Lloyd Brewster, Jr. and wife Kristi, Stepson Bart Brewster, grandchildren Justin Brewster, Jordan Brewster and his wife Colinda, and his precious great grandchildren, Kiley, Madison, Cheydon, Tripten, Brazos, Blaize, and Silas. We would like to share one of Richard's favorite bible verses, and something he held close to his heart every day, John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. (NIV). We would also like to express our families' thanks and appreciation to ALL the staff at Merkel Nursing Center for the care and terrific attention they provided for both Richard and Mom. We would also like to pay great honor to all the staff at Interim Hospice that steadfastly looked after his every need. We also graciously honor Chaplain Bobby Towell for his guidance, prayers, and visits with Richard. Finally, we want to recognize Chaplain Jim Hargrove.
