Richard Vasel "Rick" Peterson, Jr., 63, of Abilene, passed from this earth and went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 5, 2025.Rick's body will be cremated and his family plans to hold a celebration of life at a later date. Rick was born on Mother's Day, May 14,1961 in Hialeah, Florida. After brief stays in Florida and Tyler, Texas he moved with his parents to Meadville, Pennsylvania. He spent his youth enjoying the outdoors, which included camping trips with his family and spending time at his favorite fishing hole. He also spent time in the company of his grandma, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. Rick enjoyed playing football and was an accomplished wrestler. He also participated in Junior Achievement competitions. In 1978 he moved back to Texas and settled in Bedford with his family. He completed his final year of high school at Euless Trinity. He attended North Texas State University (now UNT) while working to pay for his way through school. He later transferred to Stephen F Austin State University and earned a bachelor's degree in computer science. He also met his future wife while attending SFA. They married and settled in Hurst, Texas. Rick began work with Radio Shack Corporation shortly after graduating college and was employed with them for over 30 years. He formed many work friendships and participated in company sponsored softball and bowling leagues. He most recently was employed with TTI Corporation. Rick officially became a dad to 3 wonderful children in 2005. He, his wife, and daughter, Shyanne, relocated to Abilene in 2023. Rick was a lifelong Pittsburg Steelers fan and enjoyed golfing and fishing. Rick was proceeded in death by his father, Richard, Sr., and an infant brother, Randy. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne, 3 children, Jessica, Shyanne and Bradley, by his mother, Barbara, his brother, Ron, numerous nieces and nephews, lots of extended family and friends from work and church, as well as his Ridgewood Circle family in Hurst. Rick's family would like to acknowledge the staff of Hendricks Hospital North and Hendricks Hospice for the care and compassion they extended to him and his family. We also acknowledge the family and friends who have and will continue to support us.
