Robert William Burks, 83, of Abilene passed away Friday, June 24, 2016. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Hatcher officiating, under the direction of North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St. Mr. Burks was born December 7, 1932, to Frank and Clara (Mason) Burks, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty-three years; he retired as Msgt. He held many supervisory and inspector positions during his military career. Then he worked as a loan officer for the Dyess Federal Credit Union from 1974 – 1994. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife of forty years, Anna Mae Burks; daughter, Verda L. Ross; and son, Louie Burks. He is survived by his wife of twenty-three years, Angie Burks. There is one surviving son, Robert B. Burks and his wife Sheila. The surviving grandchildren are Kendall Burks, Andy Ross, Jason Ross, Tina Burks, and Gail Bost. There are four great-grandchildren, Matt Bost, Lucas Bost, Caleb Burks, and Sadie Ross.
