Robert Lee Hopkins 68 of Hempstead passed away Tuesday October 12 2010. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street Abilene. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Iberis Cemetery with Bill Montgomery officiating under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Robert was born October 1 1942 in El Paso Texas to Jesse and Dorothy Lee Hopkins. He served in the US Navy in 1959 aboard the USS Robert Mitchell. He married Alice E. McKinnon on March 16 1963. He was a truck driver for Fleming Companies for 25 years. After his retirement in 2001 he began ranching. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Robert was preceded in death by his father wife and one brother. He is survived by his mother a daughter Terry Langdon of Wisconsin three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
