Robert Byron Jackson 85 passed from this life into the arms of his Heavenly Father April 2 2007 at a local hospital. Services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at South Side Baptist Church with Kevin Ueckert officiating. Burial will be in Albany Cemetery under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange St.
Bob as he was known by family and friends was born to Tula Es-sie Jackson and William Wesley Jackson on December 6 1921 in Weatherford Texas.
He was a veteran of World War II where he served 3 years and 10 months in the United States Army Air Force in North Africa and Italy.
Bob spent his entire life in the road construction business. He be-came owner of Pioneer Construction Company and later owner and president of West Texas Construction Company in Abilene. He re-tired in 1985. Additionally Bob was a 32nd degree mason mem-ber of Hobah Lodge and a Shriner.
Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years Alva "Tex" Jackson and three sons; Robert Jackson of Austin and wife Georgia Daniel Jackson of Dallas and wife Debra and Chuck Jackson of Waco and wife Judy. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren Daniel Ashly Cade Rebecca Audrey Chandler Chelsey and Cameron; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers are Daniel Jackson Jr. Cade Jackson Chandler Jackson Cameron Jackson Mike Latimer Tommy Marlin Kelly Price and Dave Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Hyer Doyle Reeves and Chuck Hutchinson.
