Robert Eugene "Bob" Larson, age 72, passed away at his home in Willis, Texas on February 1st, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am Friday, February 18th, 2022, at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St., Abilene with Pastor Greg Clemmer officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 1pm at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Abilene.
Bob was born on October 17, 1949, in Conroe, Texas to John and Helen Larson. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on January 31, 1969, and served his country proudly in Vietnam as a jet engine mechanic, rising to the rank of Sergeant. While living in Abilene, he and his wife Janice were members of 3 Crosses Cowboy Church. He donated to various Jewish and Christian Associations. Bob attended San Jacinto College before embarking on his career in chemical manufacturing. He volunteered as a fire fighter at the chemical plant where he worked, and annually attended A&M fire school to keep current on his training. Bob was a lifelong member of the NRA. He enjoyed riding horses, going on trail rides, camping, fishing, hunting (more taking pictures of the deer than shooting!), and raising cattle, he loved the country life. Bob enjoyed motorcycles and was happiest when riding his Harley. He loved his dogs, Taz, Prissy, Pooter and grand dogs, Bruno, Red, Bella and Boudreaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Helen Larson and his in laws, John and Gloria Harris.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Janice Larson; children, Kimberly Smith, Jennifer Lemire and husband, Billy James, Shawn Eugene Larson and wife, Jessica and Aundria Christine Johnson; siblings, Margaret "Peggy" Phillips and husband, Bruce and Jack Larson and wife, Kathleen: in laws, Angela McElroy and husband, Bubba, Vickie Reynolds and Billy Dale Harris; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
