Robert Glenn Myatt, 73, of Abilene left this world Sunday, October 26, 2014. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in North's Memorial Chapel. A Graveside Service will be on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Tye Cemetery, under the direction of North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street. Pastor Jim Ritter will be officiating. Robert was born on August 31, 1941 in Mayfield, Kentucky. He was the youngest of five children born to James and Pauline Myatt. He graduated from Wingo High School in Wingo, Kentucky. He was inducted into The United States Air Force in March, 1961 and began a tour of travel that included most of the United States and thirteen foreign countries. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from the United States Air Force in May, 1987 after completing twenty six years of military service. Robert moved to Tye, Texas in April, 1984 where he lived until his death. He was an active member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6873 and the Military Order of Cooties until his health would no longer let him serve. He held many offices in the MOC including commander. In July, 1961 Robert married his high school sweetheart, Rona Joan Gossum. They spent over forty nine years together until her death in 2010. Out of these years, they only spent five years apart due to the military service. After retiring from the military, Robert worked for The Boeing Company and The Lockheed-Martin Corporation at the B1B Simulator at Dyess Air Force Base. In October, 1999 he had his second by-pass surgery and complications from the surgery prevented him from working. Robert leaves behind two daughters, Marilyn, of Abilene, Texas and Tina of New Orleans, Louisiana, A brother, James of Millington, Tennessee, A sister, Betty of Murray, Kentucky, One grandson and three granddaughters.
